Midnight in the Bunker

bunker midniteAt midnight here in the Butcher Block Bunker, we had an emergency meeting of the planning and logistics committee to discuss the Current Situation and its impact on our planning and logistics. There was debate on the question of Going Up. And a very democratically conducted vote. A Russian accounting firm offered its help in counting the ballots.

So we voted to go up.

We went up. We took a look. Still no Torvald, and the conflagration continues to rage on. What had been a two-alarm has become a dramatic five-alarm blaze. People wearing talking heads wander through the dark from camera to camera, talking.

We hoped for a little shopping time, but the schedule was too tight. We’ll just have to order online. A quick check of our instruments helped us ascertain a 90-percent chance of twitter conniption fits. We didn’t have the proper personal protection gear for that.

Before we went back down into the Bunker, we did a little maintenance on our topside monitoring equipment which is still functional, feeding us live feeds, tracking and recording the de-articulation and disintegration of established methods and systems.

We will spend a little extra time in Decontamination just to be on the safe side.

“Public corruption is the FBI’s top criminal priority. The threat – which involves the corruption of local, state, and federally elected, appointed, or contracted officials – strikes at the heart of government, eroding public confidence and undermining the strength of our democracy.” —James Comey
